Barcelona slam Cesc Fabregas’ form after Chelsea transfer
Barcelona appear to criticise Cesc Fàbregas' form after midfielder seals transfer to Chelsea
Barcelona have hit out at Cesc Fabregas’ “downward trend” in form after the midfielder completed his transfer to Chelsea on Thursday.
The 27-year-old, who has signed a five-year deal with the Blues, spent three seasons at Camp Nou after returning to his boyhood club from Arsenal back in August 2011.
There has been a downward trend in his stats every season at the club
Fabregas scored 42 goals in 151 games for the Catalan side during his return to Camp Nou but in an unusual statement released on the club’s website, the La Liga sida appear to criticise the playmaker’s form.
“There has been a downward trend in his stats every season at the club,” the statement read.
“He slipped right back into the FCB system as if he’d never been away. But despite glowing starts to each campaign, Cesc’s contributions to the cause gradually decreased as each season drew to a close.
“From being someone who joined in with the attack, supplying and scoring goals, the magic tended to fade later on in each season.
“He only scored one, six and one goals in the last 24 games of each season.
“For some reason, he was never as good in the second half of a season as in the first.”
