Michael Owen is tipping Manchester United to claim a point at Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils will make the trip to Portugal looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the Champions League campaign.

Manchester United were 3-0 winners against Swiss outfit Basel at Old Trafford before a 4-1 victory at CSKA Moscow in Russia.

The 20-time English champions played out a dour goalless draw with bitter rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester United were criticised for their lack of adventure on Merseyside against a particularly leaky Liverpool defence.

The Red Devils have scored 28 goals and have kept nine clean sheets in their opening 10 games in the Premier League and the Champions League this term.

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen is tipping Jose Mourinho’s men to secure another important point at Estadio de Luz on Wednesday night.

“Manchester United left Anfield with a point at the weekend and, after producing another staunch rear-guard performance in the Premier League, should do likewise to gain a result in the Champions League,” Owen told Metro.

“United have conceded just four goals in eleven games this season, keeping eight clean sheets, and should add to that tally once more midweek.”

Manchester United are looking to win the Champions League title for the first time since 2008 when the Red Devils beat their bitter rivals Chelsea on penalties.

The Red Devils won the European crown twice under Sir Alex Ferguson but have struggled to make an impression in the Champions League since Ferguson stood down as manager.
