Serbian international Nikola ŽigiÄ”¡ has signed for Birmingham City on a four year deal.
Valencia have agreed to sell the 29-year-old forward for a fee reported to be in the region of £6 million.
The 6ft 7″ stiker moved to the Estadio Mestalla in 2007 but failed to cement a regular starting spot in the wake of competition from the likes of David Villa.
He was loaned out to Racing Santander in 2009 where he impressed, scoring league 13 goals in 19 games.
ŽigiÄ”¡ joins Cameron Jerome and veteran Kevin Phillips in the Blues’ striking department. Other names linked with moves to St Andrew’s include West Ham’s Carlton Cole and Fulham’s Bobby Zamora.
Earlier this month Birmingham boss Alex McLeish released Christian BenÃÂtez, who was on loan from Mexican side Santos Laguna, after the Ecuadorian failed to produce what the Scot felt warranted a permanent deal.
“We’ve been linked with one or two players, we have put in bids for players,” said McLeish. “It would be unfair of me to talk about names at the moment. It would be unfair to the clubs and also to the fans if things don’t happen.”
