Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Bournemouth v Chelsea FC
The Liverpool FC legend is backing Chelsea FC to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Wednesday night
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Chelsea FC to get back to winning ways in the Premier League at Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
Maurizio Sarri’s have loosened their grip on fourth place in the race to secure the final Champions League qualification spot.
Chelsea FC lost 2-0 loss to Arsenal at The Emirates in their last league fixture to hamper their hopes of a top-four finish.
Arsenal and Manchester United occupy fifth and sixth spot and both teams are putting the west London side under pressure.
The Blues have lost three of their last six games on the road in the Premier League following defeats by Tottenham, Wolves and Arsenal.
Bournemouth were 2-0 winners against West Ham at Vitality Stadium earlier this month to win their third game in six outings.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson believes Chelsea FC will edge to a narrow 2-1 win over Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
“Chelsea ended up having a very good week, reaching the Carabao Cup final and the FA Cup fifth round,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“I was at Stamford Bridge as co-commentator for their win over Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup and I was impressed by the movement in the box of their new striker Gonzalo Higuain.
“It is just a case now of him and the rest of team getting to know each other.
“Bournemouth won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day in January last year in what Cherries boss Eddie Howe called their “best result” in the Premier League.
“Howe’s side ended a poor run by beating West Ham in their last game, on 19 January, but I think Chelsea will be just too strong for them this time.”
Chelsea FC have already beaten Bournemouth two times this season in both the League Cup and the Premier League.
The Blues were 2-0 winners against the Cherries in the Premier League in September before a 1-0 League Cup triumph in December.
Maurizio Sarri signed Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain from Serie A champions Juventus on loan for the remainder of the season last week.
