Brendan Rodgers deserves time at Liverpool, says former Reds manager

Roy Evans defends under-pressure Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers

“This season has been massively disappointing for everybody,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “It will be disappointing for Brendan as well. “In management you go from being the messiah to everyone wanting you to get the sack. For Liverpool to do that, at this stage, would be ridiculous. “You’ve got to give Brendan time. Everything at the moment seems to go back onto the manager, but what about the players? “Somewhere along the line Brendan has got to go back to basics, pick his best team and let them show us they have the passion and pride to play for a top team. “The others then have to fight for those places. All this chopping and changing, and messing it around, just blurs the vision you might have.” Read more at http://talksport.com/football/exclusive-former-liverpool-boss-slams-rodgers-sack-talk-and-demands-players-step#YGT3OwoDwFdfEp2U.99

However, ex-Liverpool boss Evans, who resigned from his position in 1998, has slammed “ridiculous” reports that the Merseyside outfit could end the Northern Irishman’s two-and-a-half year reign.

“This season has been massively disappointing for everybody,” Evans told talkSPORT. “It will be disappointing for Brendan as well.
