Brendan Rodgers believes that the Anfield faithful will play a big part in helping Liverpool push for victory in their crunch clash against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Reds head into the blockbuster showdown on Merseyside top of the Premier League table thanks to a 2-1 win at West Ham United at the weekend.

It will be great. The supporters will be really looking forward to that one

Liverpool currently lead City by four points but have played two games more than Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

And Rodgers has underlined the impact the home fans could have during the potential title-decider.

“It will be great,” Rodgers told Liverpool’s website. “The supporters will be really looking forward to that one.

“My only thought is on the next training session – I need to prepare the team now and we’ll have a good week’s work. We’re really looking forward to going to Anfield.

“The atmosphere will be magnificent. We’ve just got to go and play our game and keep that composure and calmness that we’ve been playing with. If we can do that, hopefully we can get three points.”
