Brendan Rodgers: Liverpool hitting my targets despite West Brom draw
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists the Reds are on target despite a disappointing 1-1 draw at West Brom

Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool are still hitting his targets in the race to finish in top four despite a disappointing 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion.
The Reds appeared to be heading towards maximum points at the Hawthorns before Kolo Toure’s wayward pass was intercepted by Victor Anichebe and the striker finished low past Simon Mignolet.
This was the fifth game in a block of five and we’ve gone over our target, by taking 11 points from a possible 15

Liverpool’s stalemate meant that Tottenham Hotspur remained two points behind fourth-placed Reds, whilst Everton gained ground on their local rivals following a 4-0 derby loss last week.
But 41-year-old Rodgers is happy with a point against the Baggies despite failing to take their chance to increase their lead over their top-four rivals.
“There’s initial disappointment after the game,” Rodgers told Liverpool’s website.
“I thought we played well in the first half. These games aren’t easy, especially away from home in the Premier League. But I thought we were very comfortable in the game. We went 1-0 up with an outstanding goal. It was a very good team goal.
“There weren’t too many chances, but I thought we were in control. When they scored, the momentum shifted a little bit and we had to stay strong and resolute. We’re obviously disappointed because we had control.
“It was a game that, of course, we wanted to win and a game that we’re disappointed we didn’t win. But overall, it’s a point further away from our rivals.
“We’re still in a good position. We’ve been looking to average two points per game this season. This was the fifth game in a block of five and we’ve gone over our target, by taking 11 points from a possible 15.”
