Brendan Rodgers praises ‘brilliant’ Liverpool No1 Simon Mignolet
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers pinpoints a "brilliant" reaction save from Simon Mignolet in a 3-0 victory over Southampton

Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on Liverpool’s brilliant goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
The Reds shot stopper was in good form against Southampton on Saturday as the Belgian pulled off one eye-catching reaction save to deny Jay Rodriguez at St Mary’s.
That’s what he is, a brilliant shot stopper and I thought the back four, goalkeeper and collectively in front of that, we were excellent defensively

Liverpool went on to secure a 3-0 win and move up to second place in the Premier League table, and Rodgers was impressed with Mignolet’s all-round performance.
“It was a great save,” Rodgers is quoted as saying by Liverpool Echo.
“We had started the game really well, went in front and arguably we should’ve been two up.
“Away from home there are critical moments in games and he had made that save going the wrong way.
“And that’s what he is, a brilliant shot stopper and I thought the back four, goalkeeper and collectively in front of that, we were excellent defensively.
“And when you would normally expect them to come onto the game in the second half we nullified that threat and we were more dangerous in the second half ourselves.
“We’ve got the goals and collectively we were excellent defensively and showed real good tactical discipline but credit to them all. Like I said last week, it wasn’t Dan Agger, it wasn’t the goalkeeper or the back four it was the whole team. We didn’t press well enough from the front of the field last week and that has a knock-on affect.”
