Brendan Rodgers has warned Liverpool against complacency as the Reds look to end the season with Champions League qualification.

The Merseyside outfit are currently on course to secure the top-four finish needed to break back into Europe’s elite club competition, with the Reds fourth and six points behind nearest-challengers Tottenham.

We’re in a competition and want to finish as high as we possibly can

Liverpool travel to Southampton on Saturday evening looking to take a step closer to a top-four finish.

But Rodgers is keen to see his side continue to improve in the closing stages of the season.

“Last year, we improved as the season went on, but the improvement been consistent now for probably the last 14-15 months,” Rodgers told the club’s official website.

“It’s something that’s important for us. We’re in a competition and want to finish as high as we possibly can.

“It’s a great marker of where we’re at, we’re four points off the lead, but at the same time we can’t be complacent.

“We have to keep working and working well. We have another game to go in our small block of targets and we aim to get a good result.”
