Michael Owen is backing Brighton and Hove Albion to beat Arsenal at the Amex Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners suffered a humiliating 3-0 loss to Premier League leaders Manchester City in the League Cup final at Wembley last season.

Arsenal are in sixth place in the Premier League table and a long way off the pace in the top-four race.

The north London side are looking to secure a Champions League spot after Arsenal finished behind Liverpool FC last term.

The Gunners have an abysmal record on the road in the Premier League last term following a disappointing return of 13 points in 14 away games this season.

Arsenal have lost at Bournemouth, Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur in their last three Premier League games away from The Emirates.

Brighton, on the other hand, have beaten West Ham United and Huddersfield Town in their last two Premier League home games.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen believes Arsenal’s away day blues will continue when Arsene Wenger’s side make the trip to Brighton on Sunday.

“Brighton have won their last couple of home games and I think they will give Arsenal, who have lost their last three away games in the Premier League, a real game at the Amex,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Glenn Murray has scored five goals in his last five home games for the Seagulls but the Gunners will have been hurt by the criticism they received after their Wembley defeat last weekend.

“I expect Arsene Wenger’s side to be a different proposition against City back at the Emirates on Thursday although their recent away form remains a concern. I expect Brighton to get something from the game.”

Arsenal signed Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the January transfer window to improve Wenger’s squad.
