Cesc Fabregas warned Chelsea’s title rivals that he is expecting the Blues to have a “good year” after an opening victory over Burnley.

Chelsea hit back in an emphatic style after newly-promoted Burnley had taken an 14th-minute lead thanks to 25-year-old Scott Arfield’s strike at Turf Moor.

I love playing football. We have a very talented young team. So far, so good

Diego Costa opened his Blues account to level before Andre Schurrle collected Fabregas’s incisive pass to slot past goalkeeper Tom Heaton after an impressive Chelsea move.

The Blues wrapped up three points before half-time after right-back Branislav Ivanovic netted from close range from a Fabregas corner.

“They have made it so easy for me. Everyone has welcomed me since day one. I feel comfortable with the staff and all the players, we have a big connection. I’m expecting a really good year for us,” Fabregas said.

“Well you always want to do well. I love playing football. We have a very talented young team. So far, so good. Everyone has treated me so well.”

On moving to Chelsea in a £27m move this summer after spending eight years at Arsenal before joining Barcelona in 2011, Fabregas added:

“It is something that I probably would have never expected. Football is unexpected. It brought me here and I will give my best to be as good as I can be. I just want to play football.”
