Paul Merson states his prediction for Burnley v Man United
The Arsenal legend is backing Manchester United to beat Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon
Paul Merson is backing Manchester United to secure a third successive Premier League win at Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils have unearthed some decent form thanks in part to the performances of club record signing Paul Pogba over the past few week or so.
Manchester United were 3-0 winners against Stoke City at Old Trafford last weekend thanks to goals from Antonio Valencia, Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku.
Burnley are winless in their last five Premier League games but remain in seventh place thanks to their impressive run of results in the first half of the 2017-18 season.
Sean Dyche’s side have only lost three games on the road in the English top flight this term following three victories and four stalemates.
Manchester United will look to become only the third team to win at Turf Moor this season following in the footsteps of Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and West Brom.
Former Arsenal midfielder Merson is backing the Red Devils to beat Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
“I think Burnley have hit a bit of a brick wall. They’ve had some hard fixtures of late, and have been a tad unlucky,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I think Sean Dyche said the defeat at Palace was an even game, I don’t think it was that even. Palace had better chances than Burnley in the game.”
Merson added: “I think Man United are just solid. I just think they won’t allow Burnley anything, they’re very hard to beat. They’ll be Mourinho efficient.”
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table and 12 points behind runaway leaders Manchester City.
The Red Devils won the Europa League and the League Cup under Jose Mourinho in the Portuguese’s first season in charge at Old Trafford.
