Cardiff City 0 Aston Villa 0: Paul Lambert hails David Marshall's "world-class saves" after he denied the visitors three points
Paul Lambert was left to rue David Marshall’s two “world-class saves” after Cardiff City and Aston Villa played out a stalemate.
The Bluebirds had the best of the first-half chances after Fraizer Campbell and Craig Noone hit the woodwork with Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan beaten at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The visitors were much-improved in the second half, but Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor wasted a couple of good openings as Ben Turner and Kevin Theophile-Catherine made last-ditch tackles.
And Cardiff goalkeeper Marshall ensured the home side picked up a valuable point after palming Fabian Delph’s low shot out for a corner before tipping Andreas Weimann’s effort over the crossbar in injury time.
“I thought David Marshall pulled off two world-class saves in the second half – the one at the end and the one earlier to his left hand side,” Lambert told BBC Sport.
“Second half, I thought we were excellent and on another night we would have come away as winners.
“If you pick up points away from home they’ll take you a long way in this league, so I’m happy with a point.”
