Carl Jenkinson ‘excited’ by Arsenal’s Bayern Munich tie
Carl Jenkinson convinced Arsenal can beat Bayern Munich to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League

Carl Jenkinson is convinced that Arsenal can defeat Bayern Munich to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
The Gunners were pitted against Pep Guardiola’s side in the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition for the second season running after Monday’s draw in Nyon.
Arsenal were eliminated in the first knockout stage last season on away goals, despite a 2-0 win at the Allianz Arena.
And Jenkinson believes that Arsenal’s triumph in Germany back in March proves that the Gunners are more than capable of overcoming the holders next year.
“It was a strange one [the draw] because you look at Bayern Munich and they’re a fantastic team,” Jenkinson told talkSPORT.
“In that sense you’re thinking it could have been easier but at the same time we know we can beat them. We proved it last season.
“Beating Bayern Munich 2-0 in their home ground doesn’t happen very often. We know we have the capability to beat them so I’m sure the boys are positive about the draw.
“I’m excited about it personally. If you want to be the best you’ve got to beat them and Bayern are definitely one of the best teams. It will be a great game for the neutral as well.”
