Caroline Wozniacki storms into third round in New York

Top seed Caroline Wozniacki stormed into the third round of the US Open, winning all twelve games to beat China’s Kai-Chen Chang.

Wozniacki looked in imperious form and took just 47 minutes to dispose of the Chinese qualifier. The Dane’s overwhelming dominance was reflected in the 6-0 6-0 scoreline – the 20-year-old living up to her seeding.

In the next round Wozniacki, who has lost just once since her exit at Wimbledon, will face 77th seed Yung-Jan Chan.

World No2 Wozniacki was beaten in straight sets by Kim Clijsters in the womens’ final last year at Flushing Meadows.

“I’ve played tough matches in the previous weeks. I’ve been playing really great tennis. I’m feeling good, so no worries,” said Wozniacki.

She added: “For me it’s just about winning and getting through to the next rounds. I don’t give any free points away, I think that’s one of my strengths.”

Meanwhile, Chang was quick to pay testament to her blossoming opponent. “It’s like playing against a wall,” said Chang. “She is a very consistent player. She doesn’t give you any points or mistakes. Yeah, she is a wall.”
