Carragher ‘delighted’ to see Henderson receive Liverpool vice-captain role
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher backs the appointment of Jordan Henderson as Reds's vice-captain
Jamie Carragher says he is delighted to see England midfielder Jordan Henderson named as Liverpool’s new vice-captain.
The Reds midfielder was handed the role on Monday night after his predecessor Daniel Agger sealed a return to Danish club Brondby in the summer transfer window.
Henderson has been transformed into a key Liverpool player over the past 18 months under Brendan Rodgers, becoming an established member of England’s first-team, too.
And Carragher backed Henderson’s appointment, as well as expressing his excitement for the return of Champions League football at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Looking forward to hearing the CL anthem back at Anfield tonight. Also delighted for Jordan Henderson on Lfc vice captaincy.

Reds boss Rodgers said that Henderson’s overall attitude makes him the perfect fit for the role.
“Jordan is someone who represents the best values of what we are all about, as a team and as a club,” said Rodgers.
“Both he and Steven are examples to others in how they conduct themselves on and off the pitch. It’s how they live their lives, it’s how they train and it’s how they approach their work.
“Jordan is completely dedicated to the game and his leadership qualities come from the example he sets. It’s another great story for Jordan in his journey as a Liverpool player and it shows the great progress he has made.”
