Jamie Carragher and Tim Cahill tweet their thoughts after Didier Drogba pens a one-year deal with the Blues
Didier Drogba has sealed a return to Chelsea after penning a one-year deal with the Blues.
The 36-year-old Ivorian striker scored 157 goals in 341 appearances for Chelsea during his first spell at the club, winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and the Champions League.
Here is the best of the Twitter reaction from Drogba’s fellow professionals to the return of a Premier League legend.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) had many battles with the Ivorian: “Think he will be going back as much for his off the field influence as on it. He will never be able to beat that! Drogba was unplayable at times as I found out. Although came out on top in our Champions League battles. Great player looking forward to watching him this season.”
Celebrity Arsenal fan Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) is a tad optimistic: “Oh no. He’s back. #Drogba King @ThierryHenry – we need you back. Urgent.”

Scunthorpe United striker Paddy Madden (@Paddymadden) is thrilled to see Drogba return: “Drogba is back #ThisMakesMeHappy”
Boxer Anthony Ogogo (@AnthonyOgogo) knows all about staying on his feet: “Everyone loves a comeback, welcome back to England Drogba, one of the prems finest ever strikers…. But try to stay on your feet a bit more this time.”
Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) wonders where Diego Costa fits into the plan: “So Chelsea are signing a striker who used to score goals….. Thought they had that type of striker…”
England legend Peter Reid (@reid6peter) isn’t too surprised: “Had a feeling Drogba would be back at Chelsea.”
