New Barcelona president Sandro Rosell insists Cesc Fabregas will join the Spanish champions, but admits the transfer may not take place this summer.

An already-strained relationship between the two clubs was further damaged when Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique forced a Barca shirt on the Arsenal captain during Spain’s World Cup celebrations.

And Rosell admitted Arsenal are less than pleased with the Spanish club’s public pursuit of 23-year-oldFabregas, who is under contract with the London club until June 2015.

“Arsenal feels very hurt by Barca,” Rosell told Catalan TV3. “They don’t want to listen to offers or sell and they are not putting the player (abregas) on the market. There was a strong dispute a few months ago and they have not forgotten it.

“He will arrive, even if it is not now, it will be next year,” he continued.

“We will see. One thing that is certain is that we will not go mad trying to sign him. No shareholder would pay €60m or 70m for him.

“We will not go all out for him. We would only pay his value in the transfer market.”
