Cesc Fabregas says he can’t wait to line up alongside Fernando Torres at Chelsea next season.

The Spain midfielder completed his £27m transfer to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona last month and is convinced he can forge a successful partnership with his international team-mate for Jose Mourinho’s men.

He’s really strong, he goes behind defenders and his movement off the ball is superb

“I started playing with Fernando when I was 18, on my debut for the Spanish national team, so we’ve been playing together for nine years,” Fabregas told Chelsea’s website. “We have won two European Championships and the World Cup together.

“I really like playing with him. He’s really strong, he goes behind defenders and his movement off the ball is superb. I’m sure we’ll have a good partnership together.”

Fabregas, 27, was also full of praise for fellow new signing Diego Costa, who secured a move to the west London club from Atletico Madrid this summer.

“Diego has been progressing immensely in the last couple of years,” Fabregas added.

“He is a real threat in every single game; last season he was playing every three days and he was consistently giving really strong performances.

“He goes behind the defence and he makes the kind of runs players like me really like because it gives you an option to play the killer ball. I think he will do superbly here.”
