The win extended the Blues’ lead at the top of the table, with Arsenal and Manchester City also in action on Saturday – and Terry was thrilled with the victory.
“I’m delighted with the win and the three points,” Terry told BT Sport. “We made it quite difficult but they’re a very good side and playing well under Martinez. It was a tough game today.
“Recently dropping points at West Brom, it was important to pick up points at home.
“There are 12 games to go and it’s looking very tight. But we needed to win to put pressure on the other teams playing after us today.
“We’re top of the league and it’s down to the others to catch us now.”
