Petr Čech Wasn’t called into action until the end of the first half. Palmed a Lavezzi free-kick out for a corner. Made a couple of vital saves at the end. 6

Branislav Ivanović His throw-in routine led to Schurrle’s opener. Booked (and suspended for the first leg of the semi-final) for a reckless challenge on Matuidi. Brilliant header to take Pastore’s cross off the toe of Cavani. 6

Gary Cahill Crunched Lavezzi in an early tackle. Thrashed at a loose ball in the 36th minute when he needed to show composure. A solid performance, though. 7

John Terry Good clearance to stop a PSG counter-attack. Picked up a knock in the second half but in trademark Terry fashion, battled through the pain to see out the tie. 7

Cesar Azpilicueta Came up against the wizardry of Lucas. Coped reasonably well, although did struggle slightly when the Brazilian drifted centrally. 6

David Luiz Landed his side in trouble on a couple of occasions with sloppy passes. Vital flicked header to tee up Schurrle. Improved in the second half. 5

Frank Lampard Penalised for an early foul as the 35-year-old made a slow start. Set-piece delivery was poor, but one deflected free-kick did have the PSG goalkeeper scrambling. Earned a booking for a cynical foul. 5

Oscar Muted start to the last-eight encounter. Didn’t threaten from open play but was denied a free-kick strike by the woodwork. Came to life following that attempt. 6

Eden Hazard Restored to the side after coming off the bench against Stoke City. Sluggish start and caught in possession. Lasted 17 minutes before being replaced due to a knock. 5

Willian Took time to grow into the second leg. Asked to put in a more defensively-minded shift and combat Maxwell’s runs forward. 6

Samuel Eto’o Had Chelsea’s first attempt on Sirigu’s goal. Lucky to escape a booking for a naughty challenge on Silva. Couldn’t fault his effort. 6
Substitutes

Andre Schurrle (Man of the match) Replaced Hazard in the 17th minute. Made a positive impact as his pace and trickery called PSG problems. Guided his first European goal past Sirigu in the 32nd minute. Smashed a 51st-minute attempt onto the crossbar. 8

Demba Ba Brought on for Lampard. Came off the bench to score from close range. 7

Salvatore Sirigu Was cumbersome dealing with a Verratti back pass. Brilliant save to push Lampard’s deflected free-kick to safety. Alert to deny a couple of Chelsea pot-shots. Could do little about Ba’s strike. 7

Maxwell Offered an option bursting forward from left-back. Picked up a nasty cut to his face. Capable performance. 6

Thiago Silva Didn’t really feature until the PSG captain was on the receiving end of a naughty follow through by Eto’o. Performed well against an experienced Champions League campaigner in the shape of Eto’o but couldn’t cope with centre-forwards at the death. 6

Alex Was at fault for Schurrle’s opener. The Brazilian so busy organising his team-mate in front of him that he lost track of the German. Missed a clearance in the lead up to Ba’s goal. 6

Christophe Jallet Presumably prepared all week to face Hazard only to be tasked with marking Schurrle following the Belgian’s early withdrawal. Performed reasonably well. 6

Thiago Motta Happy to sit in front of Silva and Alex. Made a number of vital interceptions in a composed performance, calling on all of his experience. 7

Marco Verratti The Italian youngster was a busy influence in midfield; always looking for the ball and always alert to Chelsea runners. Brought off in the 53rd minute. 6

Blaise Matuidi Kept play ticking over in midfield with a series of brisk passes. Won a second-half free kick as he raced past Ivanovic. 6

Ezequiel Lavezzi Fortunate to escape a booking after wasting time in the ninth minute. Like the first leg, the Argentina international proved a real livewire for PSG. His close control was excellent and was able to manoeuvre his way out of tight situations. 8

Lucas Danced past helpless Chelsea challenges on countless occasions. Lacked an end product, though. Booked after bundling Eto’o over in the second half. 6

Edinson Cavani Handed a chance to impress in his favoured central role. Blasted a free-kick into the Chelsea wall midway through the first half. Glanced a header wide in the second half. Came into the second leg more as Chelsea chased a second. Had a chance to kill the tie but fired over. It cost PSG their last-four place. 5
