Chelsea 3 Man United 1: John Terry urges the Blues to keep pace with their title rivals after a comfortable win against Red Devils
John Terry urged Chelsea to keep pace with their title rivals after Samuel Eto’o’s hat-trick sealed an emphatic win against Manchester United.
The Cameroon international broke the deadlock in the 17th minute at Stamford Bridge with a deflected strike which looped over stranded United goalkeeper David De Gea.

Eto’o, who moved to the Blues from Anzhi in the summer, doubled the home side’s lead on the stroke of half-time before completing his hat-trick with a close-range finish.
The Red Devils netted a 78th minute consolation through Javier Hernandez but Chelsea held on to move to within a point of Manchester City and closed the gap between them and leaders Arsenal to two points.
“The win is very important,” Terry said.
“At times we have struggled over the years when Manchester United have come here or at Old Trafford – and they have given us a pasting.
“They’re not playing well at the moment, so it was important that we did the same to them today.
“The result shows that we’re pushing and trying to keep in touch with Arsenal and Manchester City.

Terry also praised Eto’o’s big-game mentality after the Cameroon striker took his Premier League tally to six goals.
“I said to him before the game that it’s important that he gets a goal for us today and he said that he loves the big games,” Terry added.
“He was very much up for it before the game and it’s great to see him get his hat-trick.”
