Jose Mourinho says Chelsea aren’t happy to see Juan Mata leave – but insists Manchester United’s “fantastic” offer was too difficult to turn down.
The 25-year-old is reported to have penned a four-and-a-half year deal with the Red Devils after completing his club-record £37.1m switch to the defending Premier League champions on Saturday night.

Mata won the Champions League, FA Cup and Europa League during two-and-a-half seasons with the Blues, scoring 20 goals and making 35 assists in all competitions for the Blues last term.
And Mourinho reiterated Mata will always have a special place in the west London side’s history after his contribution to the club following his £24m switch from Valencia in 2011.
“As I said before, we are not happy that Juan Mata left the club,” Mourinho told ITV Sport.
“We are just happy he is happy with his move, and from the business point of view, it was very difficult to say no to a fantastic situation.
“He is in Chelsea’s history, and Chelsea is in his history. There is fantastic feelings between both, and we wish him good, but not so good as it will affect us.
“This club respects players like him.”
