Frank Lampard accuses Chelsea star of ‘sleeping’ against Atletico Madrid

Frank Lampard was less than impressed by Tiemoue Bakayoko’s defending for Chelsea in the 1-1 Champions League draw at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
After a goalless first half at Stamford Bridge, it was the visitors who took the lead in the 56th minute when Saul Niguez escaped the attentions of Bakayoko and headed home from a corner.
However, Chelsea managed to avoid defeat when Eden Hazard’s shot was deflected in by Stefan Savic in the 76th minute at Stamford Bridge.
The result means that Chelsea progress through to the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition as runners-up and could face the likes of Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona in the knockout phase.
And former Chelsea star Lampard was clearly not too impressed by Bakayoko’s defending for the Blues during the game.
Speaking to BT Sport after the final whistle, Lampard said: “His body shape’s wrong in the first place.
“He needs to open his body so he can see the run of Saul Niguez behind him.
“And then he sleeps. The concentration goes and at this level, you sleep for a second… and it was an easy goal for Atletico.”
Chelsea will learn their opponents for the last 16 of the Champions League when the draw is made in Nyon on 11 December.
In the meantime, the Blues will now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their clash against London rivals West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
