BT Sport host Gary Lineker reflects on Chelsea FC's incredible 4-4 draw with nine man Ajax at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night
Gary Lineker heaped praise on Chelsea FC for their brilliant comeback after they came from 4-1 down to draw 4-4 with nine man Ajax.
The visitors were ahead in the second minute when Tammy Abraham scored an own goal before Jorginho equalised from the penalty spot two minutes later.
Quincy Promes restored Ajax’s lead in the 20th minute before Hakim Ziyech’s incredible free-kick resulted in Kepa deflecting the ball into his own net.
The Dutch side appeared to have secured three points when Donny van de Beek scored in the 55th minute to give the visitors a 4-1 lead.
However, Cesar Azpilicueta got one back for the hosts with a close-range finish.
In a dramatic 60 seconds, Daley Blind was sent off for a challenge on Callum Hudson-Odoi before Joel Veltman handled the ball inside his own area in the same sequence of play.
Veltman received a red card to reduce Ajax to nine men before Jorginho made it 4-3 from the penalty spot with his second spot-kick of the night.
Chelsea FC substitute Reece James made it 4-4 in the 74th minute before Azpilicueta had a winner ruled out for a handball.
Former Spurs striker Lineker reflected on an incredible Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Incredible game. Love football.”
The BT Sport pundit also posted: “Good heavens, Reece James has made it 4-4. The bloke in front of us who left 10 minutes ago when it was 4-1 will be gutted when he finds out. 🤣🤣”
