Cesc Fabregas predicts FC Barcelona v Chelsea FC
Cesc Fabregas looks ahead to Chelsea FC's return leg against FC Barcelona in the Champions League next month
Cesc Fabregas has told his Chelsea FC team-mates that they will have to “play their game” when they head to FC Barcelona for the return leg of their Champions League last 16 clash next month.
The Blues took the lead in the first leg thanks to Willian’s strike at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, but the west London side were pegged back through Lionel Messi’s equaliser shortly after.
Chelsea FC will now look to dust themselves down as they prepare to head to Spain for the return leg on 14 March, knowing that they will need to score at least one goal to progress.
However, Fabregas has told his Chelsea FC team-mates that they will have to believe in their game plan and not be intimidated by the atmosphere at Camp Nou.
Speaking to BT Sport after Wednesday’s game, Fabregas said: “It is still open though and we have showed that we can compete and we will need another excellent performance at the Nou Camp to go through.
“You have to have a lot of personality to play against this team who has 70 per cent of the ball.
“We have to go there to attack and score because 90 minutes defending at the Nou Camp is an eternity, it is a suicide mission. We have to play our game.”
Meanwhile, Fabregas will be hoping to feature for Chelsea FC when the Blues return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a crunch clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The west London side head into the game in fourth place in the Premier League table as they look to at least secure Champions League qualification in Antonio Conte’s second season in charge at the club.
