Frank Lampard has praised Jorginho for winning over his critics at Chelsea FC.
The Brazil international moved to Chelsea FC in a £57m deal from Serie A side Napoli in the 2018 summer transfer window following Maurizio Sarri’s appointment at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho was often branded as the poster boy for Sarri’s style of football, receiving criticism when the west London side struggled to adapt to the Italian coach’s methods.
His future at Chelsea FC was in doubt after Sarri left the Europa League winners to take over the reins at Serie A champions Juventus in the summer transfer window.
However, Jorginho has managed to establish himself as a key part of the Chelsea FC team under Sarri’s successor Lampard.
The Blues manager has been impressed with Jorginho’s ability to silence his critics through his performances on the pitch.
“I was delighted to hear [Jorginho chants] myself,” Lampard is quoted as saying by Metro.
“I do think that with fans, they are generally pretty honest. What they’re seeing is a player – I don’t want to talk about last year – but what they are seeing now is a player who has a drive, has a determination as a team player.
“I’m certainly seeing that. ‘He also has quality. He can change a game, lead a game, own a game from midfield areas. I’m delighted with that. I see day-to-day what playing for this club means.
“He’s just a fantastic sportsman who cares deeply. When you have a training session that might fall below standard or drop for a moment, he’s the one who drives it up again.
“When the fans see that on the pitch, as they did at Norwich, that’s why they sing his name. I’m delighted with that.”
Jorginho helped Chelsea FC to finish in third place in the Premier League table last season to qualify for the Champions League.
The Blues midfielder was part of the Chelsea FC team that were 4-1 winners against Arsenal in the Europa League final in Baku last term.
Chelsea FC lost to Liverpool FC in the Uefa Super Cup last month after the Reds triumphed in the penalty shootout.
