Jamie Redknapp raves about new Chelsea FC signing
The Liverpool FC legend heaps praise on Jorginho for his Chelsea FC performance in a 3-2 win over Arsenal
Jamie Redknapp has lavished praise on Jorginho for his performance in Chelsea FC’s 3-2 win against Arsenal in the London derby on Saturday evening.
The Italy international moved to Chelsea FC in a £57m deal from Serie A runners up Napoli despite interest from defending Premier League champions Manchester City.
Jorginho struggled in Chelsea FC’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City in the Community Shield to raise questions about his suitability to English football.
The summer signing opened his account with a penalty in Chelsea FC’s 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town in their Premier League opener at John Smith’s Stadium earlier this month.
Jorginho helped Chelsea FC alongside N’Golo Kante to dominate the middle of the park as the Blues eased to a 3-2 victory over Arsenal in Saturday evening’s London derby.
He completed 92 per cent of his passes and the holding midfielder’s tackling ability was on display in Chelsea FC’s narrow win over Unai Emery’s new-look side.
Former Liverpool FC captain Redknapp lavished praise on Jorginho for his impact on the Blues.
“He was Maurizio Sarri’s lieutenant against Arsenal, organising his team-mates straight from kick-off and never afraid to point the finger,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.
“The former Napoli player’s sublime pass set up Chelsea’s first goal while his 105 touches were more than any player who took to the field on Saturday.”
Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a Champions League place for the second time in three seasons.
