Mason Mount credits Frank Lampard’s tactics for first Chelsea FC goal
Mason Mount reacts to his first Chelsea FC goal in Sunday's 1-1 draw

Mason Mount was quick to pay tribute to Frank Lampard’s tactics after the Chelsea FC midfielder scored his first senior goal in a 1-1 draw with Leicester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The England Under-21 international retained his place in the Chelsea FC team despite an unconvincing performance in their 4-0 loss to bitter rivals Manchester United last weekend.
Mason rewarded his manager’s faith with the opener in the seventh minute after the 20-year-old won the ball and beat Kasper Schmeichel with a quality finish.
Unfortunately, his goal wasn’t sufficient to secure a first Premier League win under Lampard after Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi equalised in the second half.
Mount explained how Lampard’s tactics contributed to his first goal in a Chelsea FC shirt.
“Frank wants us to press high and put teams under pressure so it was nice to see that pay off with the goal,” Mount told Chelsea FC’s website.
“Scoring goals and creating chances for the team is something I want to contribute and on a personal note, it’s fantastic to get off the mark for Chelsea in the Premier League.”
The Blues youngster received some criticism for his performance in Chelsea FC’s humiliating loss to Manchester United last weekend.
But Mount’s first goal has underlined the reason why Lampard is willing to put his faith in the inexperienced midfielder.
And the Chelsea FC goal-scorer underlined the significance of the strike to him.
“It’s a dream come true and I can’t even describe the feeling, it’s going to be with me for a long time,” Mount said.
“My family were all here today and obviously it’s a special moment just to make my debut at home but to score as well is a massive moment for me.
“It’s what you dream of – coming through the Academy and being at the club since the age of six, to start the game in front of all our home fans and score is amazing.”
Mount will be hoping to retain his place in the Chelsea FC team when the Blues make the trip to Norwich City at Carrow Road in their next fixture on Saturday.
