Ian Wright: This Chelsea FC star doesn’t get enough credit, he’s a top player
The Arsenal legend claims Chelsea FC midfielder N'Golo Kante doesn't get enough credit for his skill
Ian Wright has claimed that Chelsea FC midfielder N’Golo Kante doesn’t get enough credit for his skill.
The France international has established himself as a key part of the Chelsea FC team since his £30m from Leicester City in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Kante helped Leicester to win an unprecedented Premier League title under Claudio Ranieri to earn his big-money move to Chelsea FC.
The Blues signed Kante following a disappointing tenth-placed finish under interim boss Guus Hiddink following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal in October 2015.
The defensive midfielder was a key part of the Chelsea FC team that won the Premier League crown with two games to spare under Antonio Conte last term.
While the west London side have struggled to defend their title this season, Kante has still acquitted himself well in the middle of the park.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Kante still doesn’t get enough credit for his offensive play.
“He breaks things up but he doesn’t get a lot of credit for the skill he’s got and the composure [he has] on the ball,” Wright told BBC Sport.
“He’s a top player and it’s no coincidence that a player like him has won the league twice with two different teams.
“He’s been a major part of that. He’s just fantastic.”
Chelsea FC finished top of the Premier League table and seven points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur last term.
The Blues signed England international Ross Barkley, AS Roma defender Emerson Palmieri and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
