Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Tammy Abraham for seizing his chance to shine in the Chelsea FC team.

The England Under-21 international has been a revelation so far this season after Frank Lampard opted to give the young striker a chance to shine in his team.

Abraham failed to get on the score-sheet in his first three appearances of the season to prompt some criticism of the 21-year-old.

However, the Chelsea FC youth graduate netted his first Blues goal in a 3-2 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road last month.

Abraham went on to score twice in a 2-2 draw with promoted side Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge.

The English forward netted his first hat-trick in a 5-2 rout of Wolves in the Premier League last weekend.

Former Newcastle striker Shearer heaped praise Abraham for his brilliant displays in the Premier League so far this term as Lampard continues to trust the younger members of his squad.

“It’s been forced upon Chelsea FC,” Shearer told BBC Sport. “Frank said they [Abraham and Mason Mount] deserve their opportunity. They absolutely do. They’re doing a fantastic job.”

On Abraham’s goals against Wolves, Shearer added: “He scored very different goals [at Wolves]. The first was a scrappy goal, followed by a bullet header and then he’s got the defender where he wants him for the third goal. He stops him and moves him.”

Abraham went on a season-long loan to Swansea City last term where he netted five times for the welsh side.

The England Under-21 international will get his chance to impress against Premier League leaders Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Chelsea FC finished in third spot in the Premier League table last term to secure a spot in the Champions League.
