Thibaut Courtois predicts where Chelsea FC will finish this season
The Chelsea FC goalkeeper is confident Antonio Conte's side can finish in the Premier League's top four
Thibaut Courtois is confident Chelsea FC can still finish in third or fourth place in the Premier League this term.
The defending Premier League champions suffered a 2-1 loss to second-placed Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Willian broke the deadlock in the top-four clash before Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard turned the game on its head to secure three points for the home side.
Chelsea FC dropped down to fifth place in the Premier League table after Tottenham Hotspur were 1-0 winners against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The Blues are two points adrift of Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the race to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League competition.
Chelsea FC missed out on a place in Europe’s premier club competition in 2015-16 after the London club finished in tenth spot before Antonio Conte led the Blues to title glory last term.
Courtois, though, is confident Chelsea FC can still secure a top-four spot ahead of their trip to Premier League leaders Chelsea FC at The Etihad next Sunday.
“It stays the same, it is tough,” Courtois told Chelsea FC’s website.
“City are obviously far away but for the second, third and fourth spot there are five teams so it will be hard until the last match of the season. But I think we have enough quality as we saw on Sunday and we showed it against Barcelona.
“I think we are a very good team but there are some other good teams around us as well.”
Chelsea FC won the Premier League title with two games to spare last term after the Blues finished seven points clear of runners-up Tottenham Hotspur.
