Ian Wright makes confident Chelsea FC prediction under Maurizio Sarri
The Arsenal legend is confident Chelsea FC will challenge for the Premier League title this season
Ian Wright says he is confident that Chelsea FC will challenge for the Premier League title this season.
The Blues finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last season to culminate in Antonio Conte’s dismissal despite a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
Chelsea FC turned to former Napoli head coach Maurizio Sarri to replace Conte and the 57-year-old has made a promising start to his spell in charge of the west London side.
The five-time Premier League champions were 3-0 winners against Huddersfield Town in their season opener at John Smith’s Stadium.
Chelsea FC followed up their opening day victory with a 3-2 win over their bitter London rivals Arsenal at Stamford Bridge thanks to Marcos Alonso’s late winner.
The Blues edged to narrow 2-1 victory over Newcastle United last weekend to collect nine points from their opening three Premier League outings.
Chelsea FC are level on points with Premier League leaders Liverpool FC and London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to suggest a title challenge could be a real possibility this term.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Chelsea FC will mount a title challenge in Sarri’s maiden season at Stamford Bridge.
“Abramovich looks to have pulled another rabbit out of the hat in appointing Maurizio Sarri,” Wright told The Sun.
“The way Chelsea have started the season under the Italian has only confirmed my belief that they will be in the mix this time.
“They will clearly do it the way Abramovich loves too — with entertaining, exciting football which will always put backsides on seats.”
Chelsea FC won the FA Cup last term thanks to a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the final.
