Marcos Alonso has given a glowing endorsement of former FC Barcelona boss Luis Enrique as he continues to be touted as a possible managerial target for Chelsea FC.
Antonio Conte has found himself under serious pressure at Stamford Bridge in recent weeks after his side’s poor run of form in the Premier League.
The Italian manager watched his side slump to a 1-0 loss to Manchester City at The Etihad on Sunday as they lost their fourth game in five Premier League outings to dent their hopes of finishing in the top four.
Indeed, Chelsea FC are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table and significantly off the pace in the race for Champions League qualification.
The Blues are five points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, and there are only nine games left to play this season.
Enrique has been touted as a potential target to replace Conte at Stamford Bridge, and Alonso is clearly a big fan of the former FC Barcelona coach.
“Luis Enrique has shown at Barcelona that he is a great coach with many qualities and I believe he would be good for any club, but I do not know him a lot on a personal level,” Alonso told Spanish outlet Cope.
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC will bid to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge in the top flight in front of their home fans on Saturday evening.
