Marcos Alonso has insisted that he will return to Spain when he leaves Chelsea FC – but he has no intention of quitting the west London club as things stand.

The defender has earned lots of praise for his solid performances for the Blues since signing for the west London club from Italian side Fiorentina back in the summer of 2016.

Alonso helped Chelsea FC to win the Premier League title in his first campaign under Antonio Conte back in 2016-17.

And he also played a role in Chelsea FC’s FA Cup triumph last season as they won a trophy in Conte’s final campaign in charge despite finishing fifth in the Premier League.

Alonso has been linked with a move away from the west London club, but the defender insists that he plans to see out his contract with the Blues as things stand.

Speaking in an interview with Spanish newspaper AS, Alonso said: In England I feel very well known, not only by Chelsea’s fans, but also by other teams.

“The day I leave football I will return to Spain but now I have three years left at Chelsea and I am very happy there.”

Chelsea FC have made a solid start to the new Premier League season, winning all four of their games to leave them as joint leaders in the top flight.

The west London club will return to action after the international break when they host Cardiff City at Stamford Bridge later this month.
