Maurizio Sarri reacts to Chelsea FC’s 2-0 loss to Man City
Maurizio Sarri admits that Chelsea FC still have plenty of work to do after their 2-0 loss to Manchester City

Maurizio Sarri had admitted that Chelsea FC still have plenty of work to do after the Blues slipped to a 2-0 defeat by Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday.
Sergio Aguero scored both goals for the Premier League champions on Sunday to help fire Pep Guardiola’s side to a comprehensive victory in the annual season curtain-raiser at Wembley.
It was Sarri’s first competitive game in charge of the west London side after the Italian was brought in as Antonio Conte’s successor at Stamford Bridge last month.
The former Napoli boss has been tasked with at least steering the Blues back into the top four next season after Chelsea FC ended up fifth and won the FA Cup last term under Conte.
And the Italian manager has conceded that his players still have plenty of work to do to get themselves up to scratch ahead of next season.
Speaking at his post-match news conference at Wembley, Sarri said: “In the first half it was not too bad.
“The second half was a difference from the physical point of view. We have to work. Our pre-season has been a bit crazy so we have to work.
“I do not want to talk only about the defensive phase of the team, not just the defenders. We have to improve in the other half so the defenders can be less busy.”
Chelsea FC have so far only signed Jorginho and Rob Green so far this summer as they prepare for their first campaign under Sarri.
The Blues continue to be linked with a host of players as they look to further bolster their squad before the close of the summer transfer window on Thursday.
