Maurizio Sarri says he is confident that Alvaro Morata will hit top form for Chelsea FC soon
Maurizio Sarri has said that he is “confident” in Alvaro Morata for the future at Chelsea FC.
The 25-year-old’s situation at Stamford Bridge has been a source of speculation this summer after he struggled to produce consistent form for the Blues last season under Antonio Conte.
Morata has been linked with a move away from Chelsea FC this summer, with AC Milan reportedly keen on bringing him back to Italy.
However, the striker continues to work on his fitness levels under Sarri during pre-season, and the new Chelsea FC manager has revealed that he has been impressed with Morata’s recent displays.
Speaking at a news conference on Saturday after a pre-season clash against Inter Milan, Sarri said: “I’m still waiting for the best Morata.
“In the first match [against Perth Glory] Morata did not play very well, in Australia.
“But tonight, especially in the first 30 minutes, he improved a lot. I am satisfied and I am very confident in him for the future.”
Chelsea FC will be looking to at least break back into the top four next season as the Blues look to try and challenge for the Premier League title in Sarri’s first campaign at the club.
The west London side finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term as they missed out on Champions League qualification under Conte.
Chelsea FC have signed Jorginho and Rob Green so far this summer as they bid to try and win the title next term.
