Ethan Ampadu has vowed to work harder than ever to prove himself as worthy of a regular spot in the Chelsea FC team under Maurizio Sarri this season.

The 18-year-old is yet to make his first appearance in a Chelsea FC shirt this term following Sarri’s arrival at Stamford Bridge in July following Antonio Conte’s sacking.

Ampadu has been earning rave reviews as one of the Premier League’s most exciting teenage talents following his arrival at the west London club from Exeter City last summer.

Chelsea FC have rewarded Ampadu with a new five-year contract, which the Wales international signed this week to commit his long-term future to the Blues.

Now, the teenager has promised new boss Sarri that he is going to do everything he can to earn a regular spot in the first team this season.

Speaking in an interview with Chelsea FC’s website, Ampadu said: “My feet are still on the ground because I have a lot to do.

“My dad will definitely keep my feet on the ground, and my family, and everyone here.

“I will keep my feet on the ground because I know I have got a lot to do, and I’ve only had a small taste of what I would like to achieve.

“I have now got to keep working hard in training, trying to do the right things, and we will see what goes from there.

“Hopefully it will turn into some opportunities, but even if it doesn’t I have just got to keep working hard and hopefully the time will come.”

Chelsea FC are currently preparing for their Europa League group opener against PAOK away from home on Thursday night.

The Blues will then switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their trip to the London Stadium to take on West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea FC are top of the Premier League after winning all of their opening games this term.
