Antonio Conte admits major concern about Alvaro Morata at Chelsea FC
Antonio Conte delivers the latest news on Alvaro Morata's Chelsea FC injury setback
Antonio Conte has admitted his concern about Alvaro Morata’s latest injury problem with Chelsea FC.
The Spanish striker sat out Chelsea FC’s League Cup semi-final second-leg clash with Arsenal at The Emirates on Wednesday night due to a back injury, and Conte has admitted that he is not sure how long he will be out for.
Morata has been settling in well to life at Stamford Bridge since signing for Chelsea FC from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old has scored 10 goals and made four assists in the top flight for the west London side and Chelsea FC fans will be hoping that he won’t be sidelined for too long.
Morata is working with Chelsea FC’s medical team in a bid to get back fit as quickly as possible.
The 25-year-old has been under the spotlight in recent games following his failure to score in his last six appearances for the Blues.
However, Conte has now admitted that he is more worried about Morata’s injury setback than his form.
Speaking at a news conference at Cobham on Tuesday, Conte said: “If you remember in the past, Morata stopped because of a pain in his back and now it came back the day before Brighton.
“I hope it is nothing serious but this is the second time he stopped.
“Now with the medical department he is trying to solve this problem and to have a training session without this pain. This is the real problem now, not because he is not scoring or because his confidence is down, because for every striker you can pass this type of moment.
“Now the real problem is he has to overcome this problem with his back and I hope we can overcome it quickly because we need Alvaro’s commitment.”
Chelsea FC will return to FA Cup action on Sunday with a fourth-round tie against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.
