‘Good leadership’: Jamie Carragher praises Chelsea FC defender
Jamie Carragher singles out Kurt Zouma for special praise following his solid form for Chelsea FC
Jamie Carragher has praised Kurt Zouma for putting a difficult start to the season behind him to become a key player for Chelsea FC this term.
The French defender has been a regular fixture in Frank Lampard’s starting line-up this season after returning from a string of loan spells, the most recent one being at Everton last season.
Zouma struggled along with most of his team-mates in Chelsea FC’s 4-0 thrashing by Manchester United on the opening weekend of the season but he has since held down a regular spot in the team at Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old has been forging a promising looking partnership with young defender Fikayo Tomori for the Blues this season as Lampard continues to give youth a chance at the west London club.
And Carragher has been highly impressed by what he has seen from Zouma after something of a difficult start to the new campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports before Saturday’s trip to Watford, Carragher said: “He [Zouma] struggled at the start of the season but now looks like the player I watched at Everton last season – and it’s still a young partnership, him and Tomori.
“He’s shown good leadership to help his mate.”
Chelsea FC will return to Champions League action on Tuesday night when they host Ajax in the top flight.
Lampard’s men will then switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Crystal Palace next weekend.
