Paul Merson rates Christian Pulisic’s start at Chelsea FC
Paul Merson opens up about Christian Pulisic's start to life in a Chelsea FC shirt

Paul Merson says he was impressed by Christian Pulisic’s display in Chelsea FC’s Uefa Super Cup loss to Liverpool FC last week but has warned Blues fans that he is “no Eden Hazard”.
Pulisic has been adapting to life at Stamford Bridge after having moved to the west London club from Borussia Dortmund this summer, although the deal was originally agreed back in January .
The USA international produced an eye-catching display as Chelsea FC ended up losing the Uefa Super Cup on penalties to Liverpool FC last Wednesday night.
The 20-year-old will be hoping to build on that performance and hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks and months.
And, speaking before Chelsea FC’s clash with Leicester on Sunday, former Arsenal star Merson has admitted that he was impressed by what he saw from Pulisic during the Super Cup clash last week.
Merson wrote in his column for the Daily Star: “Christian Pulisic looked lively. The way he cut inside and scored a disallowed goal was shades of Arjen Robben.
“But he’s no Hazard and I don’t think Chelsea will be creating loads of chances every game.”
Merson also commented on Mason Mount’s start to life under Frank Lampard.
He continued: “Mount looks a good player to me too. He’s comfortable on the ball and can see a pass. He will grow in confidence if he plays every week.
“He’s got a shot a bit like David Beckham’s. Minimal back lift. And he whips crosses and free kicks in quite well as well.”
Chelsea FC – who are aiming to break back into the top four this season – will return to Premier League action with a trip to Norwich City on Saturday lunchtime.
