Antonio Conte sends message to Chelsea FC fans about Andreas Christensen
Antonio Conte lifts the lid on his plans to give Chelsea FC's young players a chance to shine in the first team
Antonio Conte has told Chelsea FC fans that he is hoping the club’s Academy players can learn alongside the likes of Andreas Christensen in the coming seasons.
The Danish defender has been earning plenty of praise for his performances for the Blues since breaking into the first team under Conte this season.
The 21-year-old has made 19 Premier League appearances for the Blues so far this term and has looked assured at the back for the west London side.
Conte has also opted to give the likes of teenager Ethan Ampadu the chance to impress him at Stamford Bridge this season as the Blues aim to try and secure a top-four finish this term.
And the Chelsea FC manager has spoken about his plans to give his young players a chance to impress in the team between now and the end of the season.
Speaking at a news conference at Cobham on Friday, Conte said: “As you can see, we are working a lot also with, for example, Ampadu. He’s only 17 years old.
“Christensen is only 21 years old. Bakayoko is only 23. Zappacosta only 25. We took a lot of young players.
“With Christensen, we are trying to develop the young players of the Academy.
“I think we are doing a fantastic job. We are trying to build something important with work – not with words or money.”
Chelsea FC are looking to try and at least finish in the top four this season after they won the title last term.
The west London side will take on FC Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League later this month.
