Glenn Hoddle singled out Willian for special praise for the role he played in setting up Tammy Abraham for his goal in Chelsea FC’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

After a goalless and largely uninspiring first half at Stamford Bridge, Abraham gave the home side the lead with his 11th goal of the season when he slotted home from close range.

The England international was found by Willian, whose deft flick with the outside of his boot allowed Abraham to fire home a right-footed finish.

Christian Pulisic then netted Chelsea FC’s second goal of the afternoon when he headed home from close range in the 79th minute.

Abraham has been in fine form for Chelsea FC this season and it was Willian’s third assist of the season in the Premier League for Frank Lampard’s men.

Former England boss Hoddle was clearly impressed by what he saw from both Willian and Abraham as he reacted to Chelsea FC’s opening goal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to BT Sport after the opener went in, Hoddle said: “It’s all about the touch from Willian.

“It was a beautiful goal, the way he [Abraham] takes it. He opens his body up and just slides it into the net.

“It was a fantastic bit of skill from Willian. Abraham won’t score an easier goal all season.”

Abraham, 22, has now scored 10 goals and made two assists in 12 Premier League appearances for Chelsea FC so far this season after Lampard placed his faith firmly in the striker.

Chelsea FC’s win lifted them up into second place in the Premier League table ahead of Leicester City’s clash with Arsenal on Saturday night.

Hoddle added: “This side looks so confident. Every player wants the ball.

“Every player in the Chelsea team want the ball and they’re confident. And that’s credit to Frank and the squad that he’s put together.”

The Blues will return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Manchester City away from home on 23 November.

Chelsea FC – who won their sixth Premier League game in a row – are aiming to finish in the top four after they ended up third under Maurizio Sarri last term.
