‘Amazing’: Joe Cole reacts to Chelsea FC display in 2-0 win over Crystal Palace
Joe Cole heaps praise on Frank Lampard and Chelsea FC after their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday
Joe Cole praised Chelsea FC for producing an “amazing” performance in their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday.
After a goalless first half at Stamford Bridge, Tammy Abraham fired the home side into the lead in the 52nd minute with a slotted finish after having been set up by Willian.
Christian Pulisic then made it 2-0 in the 79th minute when he headed home from close range after the ball fell to him in the box.
The win was Chelsea FC’s sixth in a row and in the Premier League and it lifted them up into second place in the table ahead of Leicester City’s clash with Arsenal later in the day.
Speaking after the final whistle, Cole praised Chelsea FC for their solid display in front of their home fans.
Cole told BT Sport: “It was an amazing performance.
“At half-time, we were a bit worried because Palace defended well in the first half.
“But Chelsea stuck to their guns and moved the ball either side and eventually the opening came.
“Willian, he stood up today again. He’s been brilliant all season and has been a leader, with the captain’s armband today.
“The young lads were brilliant again. It’s exciting times to be part of Chelsea.
“It’s onwards an upwards. They’re second in the table, who would have thought that at the start of the season?”
Chelsea FC – who have won eight of their opening 12 games in the top flight – will return to Premier League action when they take on Manchester City after the international break on 23 November.
The Blues are aiming to finish in the top four once again this season after they ended up third under Maurizio Sarri last term.
