Roberto Di Matteo: Why Frank Lampard is the ‘right man’ for Chelsea FC
Roberto Di Matteo feels that Chelsea FC would be wise to appoint Frank Lampard as their new manager

Former Chelsea FC manager Roberto Di Matteo believes that Frank Lampard is the right man to take over as Blues boss this summer.
Chelsea FC are on the lookout for a new manager after they confirmed on Sunday that they had parted company with Maurizio Sarri after just one year.
Sarri has left Stamford Bridge to take the Juventus job and after having led Chelsea FC to a third-placed finish in the Premier League table and the Europa League title.
The Italian also guided the Blues to the League Cup final last season but they ended up losing to Manchester City in the showpiece.
Derby manager Lampard has been strongly linked with the Chelsea FC job despite his inexperience as a manager.
Lampard led Derby to the Championship play-off final in his first season in charge of Derby.
And former Blues boss Di Matteo, who led Chelsea FC to Champions League glory in 2012, feels that Lampard would be a great appointment for the west London club.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Di Matteo said: “He’s definitely the right man, he’s got personality.
“I followed Derby last season and he plays very good football – he has all the experience in the world.
“It’s a great fit, whether it’s right now or not? Only time can tell.
“You can’t say it’s too early, you have to give people a chance. He’s got all the tools and it will make a lot of people happy if he is the next manager.”
Chelsea FC will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title next season after having missed out on the top flight crown for the last two campaigns running.
