Frank Lampard sets Chelsea FC Champions League challenge
Frank Lampard is eyeing a long run in the Champions League with Chelsea FC this season

Frank Lampard is eyeing a long run in the Champions League with his Chelsea FC team this season.
The Blues have had to contest with a transfer ban from Fifa over the summer months which prevented them from signing any new players ahead of the new campaign.
That said, the west London side did manage to bring in both Christian Pulisic and Mateo Kovacic in pre-arranged deals to bolster their squad this summer.
Chelsea FC have made a mixed start to the new campaign after having taken four points from their first three games and sealing their first win of the season last weekend against Norwich City.
However, despite Chelsea FC’s inability to bolster their squad this summer, Lampard feels sure that his side are capable of putting a run together in the Champions League.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Goal ahead of the group-stage draw, Lampard said: “It’s a big challenge for us as a team.
“We know that with the difficulties of the ban and where we’re at. But it shouldn’t take away from the great challenge that it is to try to do well in [the Champions League].
“I think the Premier League is so strong and that is clear when you have two teams [like Man City and Liverpool]. Manchester City are clearly absolutely a top team in world football.
“I think the English teams are strong at the moment and I hope that continues, because I think that’s great for us in England and the Premier League.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge.
The west London side are aiming to try and maintain their place in the top four this season after they finished third in the top flight under Maurizio Sarri last term.
