Frank Lampard has told Chelsea FC fans that it is time for the club to “move forward” without Eden Hazard following the playmaker’s move to Real Madrid.

Hazard officially signed for Real Madrid last month after relentless speculation linking the 28-year-old Belgium international with a move to Spain.

The playmaker was widely regarded as one of European football’s top attacking talents and he was a leading light for Chelsea FC in recent seasons.

Lampard, who has been appointed as Chelsea FC’s new manger on a three-year deal, feels that it is now time for the Blues to move on without their star player from recent years.

Speaking at his news conference following his unveiling as Chelsea FC boss on Thursday, Lampard said:

“From the outside it seemed like something that was important to Eden personally so the club and fans respected that.

“As a Chelsea fan and former team-mate, I know he gave this club such pleasure and we were thankful he was here.

“Now it’s important what we do and how we take the club forward. When you lose a great player you have to focus back on the team and we have plenty of great players here.

“We have a good enough squad to achieve our targets, to qualify for the Champions League. People will talk about us losing Hazard but we have a lot of talent in this squad.

“They finished third in the Premier League last season and won the Europa League so my job now is to push on from there.”

Hazard was a key player for Chelsea FC last season and he helped the Blues to finish in third place in the Premier League table and win the Europa League.

Chelsea FC will now look to try and challenge for the Premier League title next season following Lampard’s appointment last week.

The Blues won the Europa League title last season, with Hazard scoring twice in what ended up being his last game for the Blues, in a 4-1 win over Arsenal.
