Jose Mourinho sends clear message to Chelsea FC fans after FA Cup defeat
Jose Mourinho has a heartfelt message for Chelsea FC fans after Man United's loss in the FA Cup final
Jose Mourinho has insisted that he does not have a bad word to say about Chelsea FC supporters in the wake of Manchester United’s defeat in the FA Cup final.
Mourinho watched his Red Devils side slump to a disappointing 1-0 loss to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final on Saturday thanks to Eden Hazard’s first half goal.
The result means that Mourinho’s Manchester United side ended the season without a trophy after their second placed finish in the Premier League behind Manchester City.
Mourinho was sacked as Chelsea FC boss for the second time in December 2015, less than a year after guiding the Blues to a League Cup and Premier League double.
And the Portuguese coach has insisted that he has nothing but respect for the Chelsea FC fans who showed him support up until his final days at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Saturday, Mourinho said: “The only thing I say in relation to Chelsea supporters is that since my first day in 2004 until my last day when I was sacked a couple of years ago, they were with me unconditionally.
“They supported me every day, every match. They supported me even on the days I was sacked — twice.
“That I will never forget because they did what great supporters do — support their manager unconditionally until the last day. They were phenomenal.”
Chelsea FC ended the season by winning the FA Cup after they finished in fifth place in the Premier League table, meaning that they will have to make do without Champions League football at Stamford Bridge next season.
Manchester United will be aiming to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
