Frank Lampard has talked up Kurt Zouma’s importance to Chelsea FC following his recent solid form for the Blues.

The 25-year-old defender has been a regular fixture in the first team at Stamford Bridge under Lampard this season, with the new Blues boss placing his faith in the Frenchman.

Zouma had spent the last two seasons on loan to Stoke City and most recently Everton, but he has now been drafted back into the first team at Stamford Bridge.

The defender has started seven of Chelsea FC’s 10 games in the Premier League this season and has been a regular fixture in the heart of the Blues’ defence.

Zouma has recovered well from something of a shaky display in Chelsea FC’s 4-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford back on the opening weekend of the new season.

And Lampard has revealed his delight with how Zouma has been performing for Chelsea FC this season.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Chelsea FC’s website, Lampard said: “He has been a pleasure to work with and to coach. He just does his job, works hard, smiles a lot, and gives everything to the group.

“He’s been fantastic. I had belief in Kurt. There was interest in him in the summer. He had a very good loan at Everton last year. I believed in him as I believed in Tomori, and that’s why I made the decision I made pre-season in terms of where we were going to go defensively.

“It has been nice to get some stability – albeit cause of injuries – with him and Fikayo in the last few games.

“To get them playing together and to see the little bond they are getting on and off the pitch is a nice little story.”

Zouma will be hoping to feature for Chelsea FC when the Blues return to Premier League action with a trip to Watford on Saturday night.

The west London side are currently fourth in the table as they seek Champions League qualification this season.
