Jorginho has revealed that he has been in constant communication with Frank Lampard about his role in the Chelsea FC team.

The Blues are currently getting used to life under the 41-year-old head coach after he was brought in as the club’s new manager back in July.

Lampard is getting to grips with life in charge of the west London club after Maurizio Sarri opted to leave Chelsea FC and take over at Juventus following a year in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Jorginho is expected to play a slightly more advanced role in midfield than he did last season, with N’Golo Kante likely to drop back into his favourite holding midfield role.

And the former Napoli midfielder has now opened up about what life has been like under Lampard since the former England international was brought in last month.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Jorginho said: “His career speaks for itself. Everyone can see what Lampard did as a player, not just for this club but for football in general.

“I watched him when I was growing up and it’s great to have him here now as a coach. I believe he still has a lot to give to this club as a coach, as he did as a player.

“Of course, we talk about positions and ask questions like all other players, if they have any doubts they ask the coach and I ask about positions and various other aspects of the game which are important to know.

“I need to understand what he wants from me. So, I also ask to develop my game. The more questions I ask takes any doubt away and we can play the way he wants to play. Then we can give to the team just how he wants us to deliver.”

Jorginho scored two goals and made no assists in 37 Premier League appearances for Chelsea FC last season.

Expected to play in a more advanced role this season, Jorginho also admitted that he is hoping to score more goals and make more assists this term.

He continued: “I haven’t got many goals and assists. Some people have said I haven’t got any assists – maybe they haven’t watched the games properly because I could find passes there.

“Hopefully I will have more luck this season and I can add a few more assists and goals too, but the most important thing is the team wins. It is more important for the team to win than the number of my assists.”

Chelsea FC will kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to Manchester United on 11 August.
